10Talents is a homeschool learning app run by one homeschooling family and shared, by invitation, with a small number of other families. We built it for our own kids, so we treat your children’s information the way we want ours treated: collect as little as possible, never sell it, and let parents see and delete everything.
Parents are in charge
- Only a parent or legal guardian can create an account, and they confirm that when they sign up. Children can’t sign up or make their own accounts.
- Children don’t have an email address or password with us. On a parent’s signed-in device, they tap their name (and an optional PIN).
- Parents can see everything their children do in 10Talents, download all of it, and delete a child or the whole family at any time (Teacher → Settings).
What we collect
- Parents: name, email, and a password (stored only as a secure hash) or Google sign-in. A Teacher PIN (also hashed).
- Children (entered by a parent): first name, optional birthday, grade, math book, learning settings, and an emoji or color they pick.
- Photos of children (optional): off unless a parent turns it on. If used, it’s a small picture shown only inside your family’s account.
- Learning activity: problems tried, answers given, hints used, time spent, Talents earned, checklists, help requests, and Snap & Learn questions and answers.
- Technical: a sign-in cookie, your device type, and error reports when something breaks, so we can fix it. No advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
Only to run 10Talents for your family: to choose the next lesson, show progress to parents, send the emails you asked for (help requests, weekly summary, password resets), and fix problems. That’s it.
Snap & Learn and AI
- Photos and typed questions are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to make step-by-step help. Kids are told they are using an AI helper, not a person.
- We don’t keep the photos. We keep the text of the question and the answer so parents can review them. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
- The helper is told to help only with schoolwork, to never ask for personal information, and to turn away anything else. Every question shows up for parents.
What we never do
- No ads. No selling or renting data. No sharing for marketing. No tracking across other sites. No public profiles, chat, or contact with other users.
Keeping and deleting
- We keep your information while your family uses 10Talents.
- When a parent deletes a child or the family, it’s removed right away from the live app. Copies in our hosting provider’s automatic backups are gone within 30 days.
- Parents can ask us at any time to review, change, or delete what we have, or to stop collecting more. Email us and we’ll do it.
Who helps us run it
Cloudflare (hosting and database, in the United States), Anthropic (AI help), Resend (emails), Google (optional sign-in), and Bible text providers (the ESV API from Crossway, or the public-domain Berean Standard Bible). They only get what they need to do that job. Video links open YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) or Khan Academy.
Security
Everything is sent over encrypted connections. Passwords and PINs are stored only as secure hashes. Only the parents in a family can see that family’s information.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell parents in the app or by email before it takes effect.
